Welcome to NMR at Southampton

Southampton University has a diverse and highly active research community in the development and application of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).

The four principal NMR research groups are headed by Professor Malcolm Levitt (FRS), a world leader in the development of solid state NMR methodology, Dr Marina Carravetta (Royal Society University Research Fellow) in cryogenic solid state NMR, Dr Jörn Werner who is developing and applying solution NMR to questions in molecular cell biology and Dr Phil Williamson (Wellcome Trust Research Fellow) specialising in biological solid state NMR. They collaborate with research groups from Engineering Sciences, Synthetic and Biological Chemistry, Biological Sciences and Medicine and hold a substantial research portfolio funded by EPSRC, BBSRC, CRT, Wellcome Trust and MRC.
